Inequality
The schools are unequal by how they are unable to provide heathly nutrition for their students. To have this quality in a school is important because it keeps students healthy to stay in school to get a well education. Jonathan Kozol writes, "This time the entire system is affected, since the meals distributed to every students in the city are prepared in the two school that have been flooded,"(29). This means that while there was a flood of sewage in the schools cafeteria, the workers still made food in those conditions; there had been some of this sewage in the food that was made and it took days for it to be shut down. The first day it was known there should have been no food distributed since students could get sick instantly from its contamination. When students become sick, of course they are going to stay home, miss days of school, and run behind in class. If this were to happen in the richer parts of town, the school would have more money to fund the problem and fix it instantly. With more money that the richer schools receive they would get more tasteful food that would never have any feces to make the children sick. For all students to have good nutrition in their schools is important so they can stay in school and get a better education like the more wealthy students.
