Ken Robinson's speech

One part of Ken Robinson's speech that stood out the most to me was about that student who was a fireman. Ken explains how there was a person who came up to him at a book signing and Ken asked him some questions about his career; the man replied that he has been a fireman most of life. The man explains that he had a teacher would made him feel horrible about how he wanted to purse this profession and should become a doctor or professional of some kind; then recently saved his life in a accident. I feel teachers should never discourge their students for something that they want to purse long term or short term. This stood out to me because as a student if were passionate about something for our future, we want that support and guidence to know that we are making the correct choice for ourself. When students come to college or the "real world" it's scary to be clueless for what is going to happen. It's amazing when we have support from audlts that have gone through it before so we can learn their mistakes and take it into consideration. Without this support a student could feel lost and go through a path that will never have that passion for their futures.
